In development. The Georgia Stormwater Log isn't available yet. This page describes what I'm building, and the form below is a waitlist. No payment is collected.

For Georgia construction sites under the NPDES construction stormwater general permit

Georgia Stormwater Log: every rain reading, deadline and report in one place.

I'm building a daily rain log, 0.5-inch storm alerts with the correct next-business-day deadline, and inspection reports that name your certified personnel. It's being built for the Level IA-certified staff and inspectors the permit already requires.

What Georgia's permit asks for, and what the log will do

Summarized from Part IV.D.4 of Georgia EPD General Permit GAR100001 (effective Aug 1, 2023). Always follow your permit and your ES&PC Plan.

Permit requirementWhat the log will do (planned)
Rainfall measured and recorded every 24 hours in disturbed areas not yet stabilized, except any non-working Saturday, non-working Sunday and non-working federal holidayA daily rain-gauge entry per site in one tap, with a reminder if a working day is missing.
Daily inspection of fuel/petroleum areas and construction exits on days with construction activityA short daily checklist, timestamped, with photos.
Inspection at least every 7 calendar days of disturbed areas, exposed material storage and structural controlsWill track each site's 7-day clock and show what's due this week.
Inspection within 24 hours of the end of a storm of 0.5" or more. If the storm ends after 5:00 PM on any Friday, or on a non-working Saturday, non-working Sunday or non-working federal holiday, the inspection must be completed by the end of the next business day and/or working day, whichever occurs first. Post-rain inspections reset the 7-day inspection frequency. When your gauge reading reaches 0.5", the site will get the correct deadline automatically, and the 7-day clock will reset when the inspection is logged. Weather-forecast alerts will give you a heads-up, but the official reading is your site gauge.
Monthly inspection of areas that have reached final stabilizationWill move stabilized areas to a monthly schedule.
Inspection reports that include the certified personnel's name, date, construction phase, major observations and actions taken, plus a compliance certification when no incidents are found. Reports must be readily available by the end of the second business day and/or working day. Will generate the report as a PDF at the end of each inspection, with your certified personnel and certification statement filled in, ready to sign.
Plan revisions and corrective actions within 7 calendar days of an inspectionWill turn each deficiency into a dated to-do and flag anything still open on day 5.

What this is not. The Georgia Stormwater Log is being built as a recordkeeping and scheduling tool for certified personnel (GSWCC Level IA or higher). It will not replace certification, a qualified inspector, your ES&PC Plan, sampling requirements or your responsibility as a permittee. Not affiliated with Georgia EPD or the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission.

Who it's for

Builders and developers

Your super or project manager holds a Level IA card and does the inspections. The log will keep every lot's readings, deadlines and reports straight, so an EPD file review is painless.

Site and civil contractors

You're the operator on someone else's NOI. The log will keep the daily, 7-day and post-storm records the owner and EPD expect, in a format you can hand over the same day.

Inspection firms

When a storm of 0.5" or more ends at a dozen of your sites at once, the log will show every site that's due and its deadline, and produce a permit-ready report for each client.

Founding pricing

Planned pricing is per active site (open NOI, no Notice of Termination yet). You'll pay only for the months a site is open. No setup fee, month-to-month.

Builders and contractors

$19.50$39 per active site / month

Locked for life for the first 20 companies. Your first site free for 30 days.

Inspection firms

$9.50$19 per active site / month

Nothing is billed now. I'll email founding members before launch, and nothing is ever charged without your OK.

Questions

Is this available now?

Not yet. It's in development. Waitlist members will hear first when early access opens.

Can my own staff do the inspections?

Georgia's general permit requires inspections by "certified personnel," meaning someone who has completed a GSWCC-approved certification course, and says that person is provided by the primary permittee. Many builders use their own Level IA-certified superintendents. Check your permit, your ES&PC Plan and any local requirements.

Will this replace my inspection firm?

No. If you use an inspection firm, they'll be able to use the log too. It's meant to organize records and deadlines; certified people still do the inspections.

Where will the rain data come from?

From your site's rain gauge, which is what the permit requires. Forecast data will only be used to warn you that a qualifying storm may be coming.

What about sites of 5 acres or more that need sampling?

Turbidity sampling stays with your sampling process. The log will record when sampling is triggered and store results, but it won't take samples.

Which permits will be covered?

Georgia's construction stormwater general permit for stand-alone projects (GAR100001) first, then common development (GAR100003) once its specifics are confirmed.
